Select Human Services, Inc. is Hiring a Recreation Specialist Near Pleasantville, NY

POSITION: Program Specialist (Non-Exempt)

REPORTS TO: Select Connects Program Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Program Specialist is to assist people enrolled in Select Connects to engage meaningfully in all scheduled activities and ensure each person’s safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate daily schedule and implement activities as planned.
  • Advocate with and for the individual in a variety of situations.
  • Respect the dignity and uniqueness of each person.
  • Assist individuals to overcome barriers and challenges to establishing and maintaining relationships within the community.
  • Work in partnership to promote the individual’s emotional, physical, and personal well-being.
  • Respect and safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of the people we support, and their families as stated in HIPPA guidelines.
  • Promote and practice justice, fairness and equality for each individual supported.
  • Prevent, recognize, and report abuse towards the individual.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Core Competencies as stated by the OPWDD (Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities).
  • Support the Agency’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Adhere to electronic time and attendance procedure within designated timeframes and communicate with your supervisor regarding correction requests.
  • Complete all mandatory/Agency training within required timeframes.
  • Maintain and report vehicle logs and outing expenses to Program Coordinator.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a driver's license for at least 3 years and have a clean driving record.
  • Effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to advocate for others.
  • Ability to work well with a team and in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $23.00 per hour
